he filled in for gilberto i think against portsmouth ? dont quote me on the exact game and he did a big piece in the mail earlier in the week under the headline DJOURO WANTS TO BE CENTRE OF ATTENTION or something like that saying he came to birmingham (above other clubs) becuase he felt (ie been told) he would get the chance to play in the CENTRE of midfield here more than he would have done at the other clubs who were in for him |

Kapo is a square peg in a round hole at Blues. Having seen him in both matches it is obvious that to get the best out of him he must be the 1 in a 4-3-1-2 formation. He will never fit properly into a Blues 4-4-2. If you use him as an attacking central midfielder leaving just Muamba/Nafti/DJ/anyone else as a single defensive midfielder we would get overrun. He doesn't get back sufficiently quickly or purposefully to help out when we are defending. If we were to go 4-3-1-2 and still keep a central (defensive) midfield two we would only have one wide player - no good for SB's tactics. If he were at say, Chelsea, he would be used as a central forward midfielder with one centre forward (Drogba) and two wider, attacking, goalscoring flank players such as Robben or SWP. We don't have such players (except maybe McSheffrey) to make that system work. Forsell/O'Connor/Jerome/Vine are all "centre forwards". So, the enigma remains - where do we play Kapo for the best ? |

lets enjoy him whilst we have him, and not talk about where he'll be in the future. He's pure class with out a doubt. With Forss back to his best, things are looking good going forward for a change. Drums |

I think he can handle it in the middle with Muamba. He's well over 6ft and does seem to put his self about when he want's to, he can win a few header's like we've seen him do inthe first few games, and it's got to be the best way we can play him with the formation we have, but i do remember earlier Bruce saying that maybe with the variety we have this year we might end up being able to play 433 at time's so you never know, .... well i hope that i can be cautiously optimistic for the future anyway. |

I have every confidence in our Manager that once we get to February Kapo will have all the attacking instincts coached out of him and that he will be sitting, with his confidence shattered, on the bench watching a workmanlike Blues midfield struggle to break-down Derby's defence. 'Tis written in the stars I tell thee. Well, that and the fact that Bruce has destroyed every other attacking midfielder that he's managed |

Its called an opinion, and part of a debate is that people put their opinions forward. if you don't like that opinion and want to crush it, then thats a selective debate and therefore not a proper debate. So your post is the one ruining the debate, not mine  |

Your post just smacks of another anti/pro Bruce debate which was not what the original thread was about. |

Nope, you've mentioned anti-Bruce I'm not anti-bruce, don't feel he should be sacked, and I'm pleased with his signings. But, and here is the but, his record with some players has been poor. This time last season McSheffrey was our star and even being talked about for England, over the last 6 months his form has dived. My observation was that unless we're careful Kapo will do the same. OK, its was tongue in cheek, but there is a serious message there. Of course, if I post and you take it as critical of Steve Bruce (which I don't deny it is) and therefore an "anti-bruce" then so be it, but no-one is exempt from criticism in my eyes where due. I have no problems with Bruce's ability to spot players, its what happens to many of them when he gets them. We have a poor record with attacking midfielders since Bruce has been manager and I see nothing changing. The original thread was where to play Kapo, I don't think it will be an issue, I think Bruce will go "back to basics" and kapo will become a bit-part player, on the bench, keeping games tight, and coming on to nick a goal. Thats my opinion and perfectly in context with the original question. Everything I have seen in the last 5 years leads me to come to that conclusion |

Time will tell with SB's selections but I feel he has changed his mentality this season and hope he sticks with it. Maybe i misunderstood your post (couldn't see youy tongue in your cheek from here!!) I have never wanted SB sacked but if he does what you suggest with Kapo I'll change my mind!! ;) |

I posted this nearly 3 weeks ago. Is it not clear that this is now becoming somewhat of a prophecy? In fact I am now almost certain that we will get the same "back to basics" speech from Bruce within the next week just before the Bolton game. My point is that while I do not advocate the removal of Bruce, to those saying that he needs time to get the squad together, its not time to panic, it was only one result etc that this season is simply following a pattern that we have seen time and time again, and that for all his good points Steve Bruce simply isn't a changed man. Kapo went from world-beater to Accrington Stanley reserves in just 4 games under Bruce. Bruce complains that we have two young central midfielders, yet plays our playmaker on the bench. Says it all for me really. Dunn, Kilkenny, Hughes and now Kapo. RIP There is no room for a creative midfielder at Birmingham City |

My 2p worth for what its worth. I would line up as follows ---------------------------------Taylor------------------------------------ ---Kelly-----------------Djourou --------Ridgewell....................Schmidt/Sadler/Quedrue ------------DJohnson --------------Oubiņa --------------------Muamba---------- ------------Larsson --------------------------Kapo-------------------- ---------------------Jerome/Forsell/Oconnor ----------------- 4-3-2-1 Kapo needs to be protected, but the whole team needs to become more mobile, they sit too deep all the time. |

-----------------Muamba----------- -------Oubina------------Kapo---- ------Jerome--Forssell----Kallon Would suit us very well at home. Muamba and Kapo are both very quick players with the athleticism to get up and down the pitch. I want to see how good this Palacios is aswell. |
